CMM Operator



Given our ambitious and exciting growth plans for the future we are looking for experienced and dynamic CMM operator to join our Quality Operations within a Body Structure environment.

The role

The London Taxi Company is developing a new range extend electric hybrid Taxi which will be built in a brand new manufacturing facility at Ansty.  Ultimately the CMM Operator will be responsible for managing the operating of the measurement activities utilising the available equipment during the new Product development build phases through to full sales launch.

Role responsibilities

  • Knowledge of programming of CMM machines utilising software Such as PCDMIS etc. programming experience desirable.
  • Specific use of Nikon CMM machines advantageous.
  • Operating various Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM's) to measure and inspect manufactured parts produced from a complete vehicle down to unique components.
  • Using manual gauges and measuring devices to supplement the CMM work carried out when necessary.
  • Completing various quality control paperwork and presenting results to management and other departments as required.
  • Previous CMM programming (desired) & operating experience (essential).
  • Knowledge of CMM software such as PCDMIS or MCOSMOS.
  • Knowledge of portable CMM devices and there uses.
  • Ability to use all forms of measuring equipment, including micrometre’s and Vernier’s, go, no-go gauges etc. is essential.

The person

  • Automotive (desirable)/quality background with prior CMM experience/use of CMM operations essential.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing OEM environment is desirable as is new product introduction (NPI) experience.
  • ability to either drive through change (self-reliance, challenging and determination) or adapt to change (flexibility).
  • ability to get the job done (attention to detail, decisiveness and organisation and planning ability).
  • ability to work with others to get the job done (communication and influencing skills, team working skills and customer focus).
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation in the manufacturing environment.
  • A strong team player.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good numeracy and verbal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside of your normal job role when required for the benefit of the business.
