Quality Team Leader



Given our ambitious and exciting growth plans for the future we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Quality Team Leader to join our Quality Operation Team in Vehicle Assembly.   

The role

The London Taxi Company is developing a new range extend electric hybrid Taxi which will be built in a brand new manufacturing facility at Ansty.  The Team Leader will lead a quality inspection team during the new Product development build phases through to full sales launch. Ultimately the role will lead a quality inspection area within our Vehicle Assembly operations to ensure that the vehicle build process within their area of responsibility is efficient, within budget and to standard - RFT.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the Quality Operations Manager by managing day to day organisational issues within the team (including work allocation, holiday planning, disciplinary).
  • Lead the day to day activities of the quality inspection team to ensure a safe working environment, delivering products to customers on time meeting all quality, regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Manage the day to day resource requirements, ensuring the correct levels are in place with the required skills sets to meet the needs of the business.
  • Manage and complete inspections of component parts and assembled vehicles to meet required industry standards.
  • Provide guidance to other team members.
  • Train both team and broader organisation members.
  • Ensuring all quality data is captured, analysed and reported against targets taking action/reporting on adverse variation to standard.
  • Escalation of quality issues to management team for review, taking advantage of the internal infrastructure to recommend actions and next steps.
  • Drive down cost of quality issues to maximise effect to business and operations.
  • Immediately mitigate any Health and Safety risk identified.
  • Role model the Company values and lead by example.

The person

  • Must have an automotive assembly background with hands on experience of automotive parts and a degree of technical knowledge to support this.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing OEM environment isessential as is new product introduction (NPI) experience.
  • Process driven, clear understanding and knowledge of reading and using basic drawings/and process instruction sheets.
  • Knowledge of fault finding and escalation.
  • Knowledge of quality tools and problem solving techniques.
  • Good coaching and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation in the manufacturing environment.
  • A strong team player with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Excellent numeracy and verbal skills.
  • IT Literate with a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • HNC qualified or equivalent.
