The Buyer will assist the Purchasing Manager with strategic sourcing, Engineering interfaces, issuing and evaluating RFQs, QAFS analysis, commercial issues and negotiations, cost reduction opportunities and overall supplier management. Management of Junior team members as required, with total ownership of commodity portfolio.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
RFQs management for multiple components within commodity group.
Supplier Assessment to support sourcing and nomination decisions.
Review, analyse and evaluate quote packages from suppliers and follow up negotiation activities.
Cost of change and management through the Supply Chain
Lead a strategic sourcing approval process
Purchase Order Management, Project related through multiple build phases and change activities.
Cost management thorough key target activities and PPV
Identify and negotiate commercial cost reduction opportunities
Cross Functional Support from design concept through to production & delivery
Work with SQA to identify “qualified” suppliers and drive continuous quality improvement
Develop commodity sourcing strategies and sourcing efficiencies to achieve a robust Supply Chain
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Automotive Supply Chain / Purchasing background Quality/Manufacturing in OEM or tier one.
Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve with the flexibility to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Process Improvement and LEAN initiatives within the Supply Chain whilst maintaining excellent Supplier Relationships.
Ownership and control of BoM costs and Investment portfolio.
Experience of EPICOR / SAP or other ERP or MRP purchasing systems.
Mentoring and Development of Junior team members
Supplier Relationship Management
Education and Training
CIPS level 5 or Equivalent
Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team across multiple projects and components
A highly motivated and professional individual with the focus and drive to deliver all requirements to the business with a drive to succeed in satisfying all customer aspirations internally and externally.
Excellent negotiation, written and verbal skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the business
Strong organizational skills to manage cost, change and general transactional activities.
Team player and with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage cost portfolio, driving lowest cost solutions back through design phases and change management to maintain targets.
