Thanks to the fame of The Knowledge and the high-standards of the sector, the London taxi trade is seen around the world as the gold standard in moving people around cities. This highly regarded service is the benchmark for great taxi service around the world, and since the 1940s it has made the black cab one of the world’s most famous vehicles. Its rounded shape, prominent headlights, upright grille and flowing bodywork are instantly recognisable – a timeless design loved around the globe.
To maintain the London cab sector’s world-leading edge, the London Taxi Company has invested £325m in the development of a range extended electric cab, which will cut fuel costs for cab drivers whilst enabling them to continue to deliver a world-beating service.
As part of this process, the London Taxi Company (LTC) announced that it would be ending production of its diesel TX4 cabs with a run-out edition of 300 Limited Edition taxis. Since this announcement there has been considerable interest from businesses and collectors for an ultra-luxury edition of the current black cab to complement existing limousine fleets.
In response to this high level of interest, the London Taxi Company is looking to commission a designer to create an ultra-limited ‘Last of Line’ series of this iconic vehicle. Each vehicle will be tailored to the exact requirements of its owner – meaning the ‘Last of Line’ will be perfectly positioned to provide luxury hotels, high-end stores and private individuals with the means to give their most important passengers a very very special journey. Production of this exclusive edition is likely to be limited to five vehicles, which will be drawn from the final diesel cabs produced by LTC.
